In the bottom left the game continued to update then once it was complete I closed the ea app and then restarted it and it worked. No more warnings of an update needed. Thanks all for the tips. Tried to download app, but it was on my machine (just not working). Tried to uninstall, said no can do. Finally I tried to install again and then got a repair option which solved my issues.

I used to have a McAfee subscription but stopped subscribing to it. Even though I uninstalled the actual app it still exists on my web browser. I currently have CCleaner installed and use it regularly to clean my PC. However when I had both of these apps installed it did not interfere with my actual Sims game.
