In Steam , Stellaris game properties go to Compatibility, force the use should be checked on and go down to "Steam Linux Runtime". Then in the launcher the initial playset may have all mods enabled if subscribed. I went in and disabled all mods. Will have to find if any of those are causing a crash one at a time. 8.

I just had something like this happen to me today. Go to your Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\logs folder and open up game.log. Scroll to the bottom. You should see whatever event caused the crash. (Actually, the whole log may just be a spam of identical entries except for the attempt number.) One fix is to add -opengl at startup args. If you get red dots/lines after opengl turn off anisotropic filtering at GPU control. Meanwhile I got more save crashes in 2.2.5 than 2.2.4 when 2.2.5 is supposed to fix it. ♥♥♥♥ PDX. Thanks much!
