Disconnect the shift cable at the transmission, this will allow you to work the shifter to see if it's something in the cable as well as work the arm on the transmission by hand to see if it is rough/hard to operate. After 4 months and 122 miles It had a catastrophic primary clutch failure that left me stranded.
