If the touch screen has failed, (and it is VERY common) no amount of resets -hard, soft or otherwise will fix it. You'll need to replace the touch screen. It's cheap if you do it yourself and expensive if you have a dealer perform the service. The part is only $30. It takes a couple of hours to access and swap out the touch screen.
