Glacier has (in my opinion) more dramatic 4-5,000 foot sheer cliffs and well-defined/scenic peaks; it also has a slightly better variety of hikes, and a much more "park-like" feel because at the lower elevations the diversity of vegetation is much greater. RMNP has a more barren, dusty, rocky, feel while Glacier is much greener.
Directions: This trail is 23 miles from Kalispell. Take Hwy 2 west out of Kalispell go 4 miles, turn onto Ashley Lake Road (FS Rd #912) go 15 miles turn onto FS Rd #10236 go about 4 miles, trailhead is marked with signs. Parking is limited to 3-4 vehicles. Distance/Time: 7 miles.While there are rooms available most lodging inside the park does not open until late May or mid June due to it's still winter in the park.
