Check the additional files for the mod on Nexus Mods, they released various "levels" of tweaking to choose from. You have to use the tweaked stuff. I loaded the default one and tried it solo and cleared the whole level by myself on the first attempt, took about 6 attempts with a 3 man coop.

Oh they touched the AI alright. They touched it and made it worse. Adam update was not this bad. I could complete missions 1-2 man easily. Because of mostly tactics.
