This feature, however, may occasionally give rise to Subaru door lock issues. Some owners have reported issues like the vehicle not locking properly or the locks behaving erratically.
There is no "walk away auto lock." In the menu, HID display, there is an option of auto lock (30seconds, 60, 90) but it only applies when the doors do not open. The only customization settings (MY 2013-2014) are in the attached tables. You need the proprietary Subaru select monitor tool to change the settings. I don't see auto lock in drive as an option.The other way is the actual "walk away" function. The car obviously knows when you walk up to it for the walk-up auto unlock to work, it can detect whether or not the keyfob is within a short distance of the car. So all it would need to do is, when unlocked, keep checking for the keyfob and if it "disappears" then lock the car.

Once the key is inserted, it works fine. Mine doesn't even have an ignition key hole. I think that's how the Sport and Limited model is. Hers is a Premium. Since it's a new 2021 under warranty, I would suggest taking it to your Subaru dealers service department. The key shouldn't be difficult to simply insert.

You can also adjust it to lock when you shift into reach or based on vehicle speed.
